A Letter to the Kids
When someone you know dies, a whole new big bag of tough stuff gets opened up right smack in the middle of your life!Kids Express

Maybe you have convinced yourself that this isn't such a big thing or you'll get over it in time, but when your heart hurts really bad it's not usually fixed by ignoring it or waiting for time to make it better. Problem is, it's not always easy to talk about how it feels. Sometimes it just seems easier, or it seems like it works better to not say anything at all. Maybe you think that you have to be "strong" and not cry or say anything about the person who died even though you really want to because it might upset somebody else and make THEM cry or get angry.

Maybe you have some questions you'd like to ask but you don't know who to ask or how to bring "it" up. This is what happens for lots of kids who have had somebody in their family die. And these are just some of the reasons it can feel really good just to be with other kids who have also had someone they love die.

Lets face it, it can feel pretty lonely when none of your friends has a clue about how you're feeling because they haven't had their mom die, or they didn't have a grandfather they were really close to die, or they can't even talk to you because your brother died and they don't know what to say so they may just avoid spending time with you.

Kids ExpressWell, at KIDS EXPRESS! EVERYBODY knows what it's like to go through this really hard thing of having somebody you love die. Of course, no one else knows exactly how YOU feel or will have had the same exact experience as you, but at KE! everybody will have that one BIG thing in common: Somebody they love has died. And, usually, after we spend some time together we discover lots of things we have in common as far as feelings and thoughts and questions. And finding out that lots of other kids are in this together can, and usually does, make a big difference.

Here are just some of the things we DO at KIDS EXPRESS:

We Paint and Draw; Work with clay (and even get a chance to throw it!); Design and collect things for our "Memories 'n Mementoes" (M&M!) Boxes; Share our stories; Eat pizza; Make music; Write songs and poetry and letters; Smash, slam, bang and stomp, And lots of other things we can come up with TOGETHER! I can tell you that we have lots of fun together, but why not find out for yourself! We're hoping you'll decide to join us!
